SCMS Winter Festival: Haydn, Schumann, & Walton
When: Saturday, Jan 20 2018 @ 07:30 PM (GMT-8:00)
Where: Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall - Seattle, WA
We continue our exploration of Schumann's Piano Trio's with his second piece composed for the ensemble. This piece is a sunnier counterpart to his first trio, and makes a "friendlier and more immediate impression." Also on the program is an early String Quartet by Haydn, the father of the string quartet, and a Piano Quartet by English composer William Walton. This piece is the English equivalent of the Impressionist movement sweeping through French composers at around this same period. Eleven world-renowned musicians create unique ensembles to bring this music to life, including GRAMMY and JUNO Award Winners, principal musicians with leading orchestras, as well as numerous prize winners.
